We accept homes that have:
Living area has a sofa and other seating for 3 individuals. Primary bedroom (or studio) must have a bed frame & mattress that fits 2 adults (full size or larger). Kitchen has a 4-burner stove and a dining area (kitchen island, bar countertop, or table) No obvious safety hazards Comfortable and functional furniture throughout the home. Furnishing is contemporary, tasteful, and cohesive. Home must feature windows and natural light.
Both owners and renters are welcome, as long as your home is used as a primary residence. We are a community of real homes, not short-term rentals.
You may need to check your HOA or rental agreements. However, since no monetary transaction occurs between members, we’ve seen that most landlords are comfortable with a trusted friend housesitting when they are gone (as long as they are not turning their home into a rental).
How does host protection work? Am I covered if something breaks?
RemoteSwap automatically includes $50,000 in host protection each trip in the event of any accidental damage.
Because RemoteSwap is based on reciprocity, it fosters a community with a higher level of trust & mutual respect for one another’s home than a rental platform.
Do I need to remove my personal belongings from my home?
Absolutely not! Our members understand that this is a home and not a vacation rental – so don’t worry about having clothes in your closets, pictures on your walls, or stuff in your drawers. We only ask that any unnecessary clutter be tucked away. RemoteSwap will organize professional cleanings after each trip to ensure a seamless hosting experience.
How does RemoteSwap make money?
It’s simple – we make money when there is a successful swap. We charge a small service fee of $99 per trip. This allows us to operate the platform, provide insurance & organize cleanings.
Is this for reciprocal 1:1 swaps only?
Yes, we currently are focused on 1:1 swaps. This means you’ll stay in the same home as the member staying in your home.
Do we need to swap at the same time?
No! You can agree to stay at each other’s homes at different times. Simply finalize the exchange and dates of each trip.
